The annual Rues Principales conference is a truly exceptional platform for discussion. Its guest speakers, from various organizations, share their professional experience and generate stimulating discussions, to the benefit of all participants. The theme chosen for each conference is always central to the concerns and preoccupations of the local people.

THEME: Living downtown, solutions that pay off

The 22nd Annual Conference of the Rues principales Foundation was an opportunity to discuss the different approaches to residential development in the heart of municipalities and to examine its primary socio-economic spin-offs. Beyond residing there, living in a town centre implies bringing to it all the elements that make it an attractive place to live, and to ensure that those elements are conserved.

The main topics addressed were: a diversified housing supply; housing quality; a balance in the functions of a downtown area; the cohabitation of different clienteles; and the by-laws, incentives and planning designed to improve the living environment.

The conference was also the opportunity to present the seven achievement awards, including the prestigious SHQ Award of Excellence award, to a number of municipalities whose exceptional work in revitalization distinguished them.

The 4 Aces of Concerted and Sustainable Development certification, established by the Rues principales Foundation and the Société d'Habitation du Québec, has been attributed to a new series of municipalities.

The Rues principales Foundation is proud to have the Société d'habitation du Québec as a primary partner in its conference.
