Population : 31 704 inhabitants

"For Val-d'Or, the 20th century ended with less than favourable circumstances for the town's economy. When a concerted revitalization strategy was implemented in 1999, the goal was to help curb deterioration of the downtown area and to restore its key role in the development of Val-d'Or."
